Saving Money Is not Always the Primary Goal

Taking another person’s web page designs. It is one thing to get a free theme for your website or to work with a free website builder. Completely taking someone else’s style, however, is not wise. If you genuinely love the design and are looking for a design for your own site, why not simply get in touch with the site owner or the original designer and ask that they give you permission to use the design or ask the original designer how much it will cost to develop a new design that is just yours.

Putting up images and photos without permission. Just because a Search engine image search turns up a graphic or photo does not mean that the photo or graphic is part of the public domain. Google indexes pictures and links to the main web page that displays it.  This is okay. Posting the photo or graphic on your own site before you get permission from the owner or the creator, however, is a violation of copyright law. If the owner finds this, you could get sued. You must always acquire authorization to use the photo before you actually put it up. You might have to pay some funds but it is worth it if you can avoid having legal action taken against you. If your finances are low, you can always hunt for free images or images released with the Creative Commons licenses that allow people to use images commercially. Those tend to be absolutely fine for the public to use.

Stealing another individual’s published content. If you want to employ content that is not your own on your website, you need to make sure that you give credit to the original creator of the content. If the content material you use is from another site, it is imperative that you make sure you put up a link to that site. This will help you get the first creator to like you. If you don’t put up links or offer credit to the original creator, you will get in major trouble for copyright infringement as well as intellectual property theft. You’ll shell out far more for the infringement than it might cost you to merely link to the original or even to hire someone to create the original content for you.
